Reason Software has bought Sheppard Software, a maker of software that enables users to edit and create images with their smartphone cameras.
The purchase of Sheppard, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, gives Reason a significant stake in the photo editing tool.
Reason will continue to operate as a division of Sheppes parent company, Kalypso Media Group.
The company is based in Menlo Park, California.
Sheppels software is designed for photographers, film makers and videographers.
Its flagship product, called Reason, was designed to make it easy for photographers to create images that look professional, but that can also be edited.
It has been available since the early 2000s, and the company has expanded its product offering over time.
